Many events, outcomes, and people’s reactions are out of our control; however, that doesn’t mean that we have no control at all. For example, you can’t control how a family member treats you, but you can control how to react to it and how to deal with the situation in a way that is best for you and your happiness. By doing this, you can instead put your energy and focus towards other things.

Instead of letting your family member discourage you, you can take that energy and all those feelings and direct them towards starting your own business, for example.

Always remember that you have control over something in every situation no matter how minor you believe it to be.
